Shoe Legacy

October 24, 2011

Have you ever come home to find a box of vintage shoes, postmarked from the Northeast, sitting on your doorstep? Well it is a pretty grand feeling, I must say. I recently paid a little tribute to my grandma and referenced the fact that my dear friend S’s grandmother had passed away recently. It turns out that her grandma was a very fashionable lady with quite the shoe collection, and a shoe size right around mine. S assured me that the shoes did not fit her and that her grandmother would have wanted someone who appreciated them to be rocking these gems. Enter, me. Without any further ado, I bring you a few highlights from S’s grandma’s shoe collection that will soon become part of unpatterned style:

Quite possibly the real deal snakeskin. These are absolutely perfect and I cannot wait to wear them!

Stuart Weitzman for Bloomingdale’s multi-color peep-toe slingbacks. These are great spring shoes. They need a little love, including an extra hole in the strap in order to make them stay on my foot, but I have the winter to bring them up to speed!

Fall-appropriate suede slingbacks. Perfect for my new business casual daytime attire.

And, the icing on the cake: royal blue and gold pumps with matching handbag. These both need a cleaning and some love, but I think they can easily be restored to almost mint. I adore this set, and my friend S. I am so honored to pay tribute to her stylish grandma, one shoe at a time.

The only thing that would have made her happier than knowing her shoe collection was being well loved and worn…was knowing that she was called stylish on the internet. SO glad you have them and love them.
